Opportunites within the Students' Union for you to get involved and express your views

Well hello!

It has been a busy few weeks.  No sooner than Freshers’ Week there have been three major developments, and many ways for you to get involved and represent your fellow members!

Student Reps – There have been a lot of interest from students and that is magnificent!  But that doesn’t mean that it stops here: there are courses that still need student reps, so if you have what it takes fill in an Expression of Interest form.

If you think being a student rep mean it takes a lot of time, think again!  On average it takes less than 10 hours a semester, that is less than an hour a week!  you well have a lot of support from a wide group of people as well as training; it is a great way to meet people, and it is something great to go on your CV!

Reps training day is on Saturday 24th October, so if you are already a rep or want to be a rep but haven’t registered yet, email obsu.representation@brookes.ac.uk.

Speakers include Aaron Porter, NUS Vice-President (Higher Education), John Raftery, the University's Pro-Vice Chancellor: Student Experience, and the Students' Union Officer team!  It will take roughly 4 hours of your time and it will e interactive and with a lot of entertaining sessions!

Aside from student reps there are also a number of Union Council position up for grabs! Union Council is where each and every one of the Officers are held accountable by elected representatives from a number of different constituencies.  To find out more click here

The research for the QAA’s Institutional Audit’s Student Written Submission is under way!  To learn more about what this Audit is click here; and specifically for the Student Written Submission click here.  The consultation will start in Week 6, so if you want to get your voices heard then watch this space!

As you can see there are a lot going on, but if you want to contact me feel free to email me or come to the Exec. Office within the Students’ Union!

Until next time,

Kenny
