Student Trustee
Purpose of Post

As part of the Trustee Board, to establish the Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic direction of the Union.

As part of the Trustee Board, to ensure that the Union is operating within the law and the constitution and is accountable to the students and all regulatory bodies.

As part of the Trustee Board, to provide financial oversight of the organisation and ensure that it is acting in a financially responsible manner.

Main Duties
  • To attend all meetings of the Trustee Board (normally four each year)
  • To participate in sub-committees as appropriate.
  • To familiarise yourself with all current issues within the organisation and read all papers in advance of each meeting.
  • To take a full and active part in the decision-making of the Trustee Board,
  • To oversee the production of annual accounts for the organisation.
  • To oversee the production of an annual budget and monitor performance against that budget.
  • To oversee and monitor the activities of the organisation, ensuring full compliance with all appropriate legislation.
  • To oversee the production of a strategy for the organisation and monitor it’s implementation.
  • To oversee the production of an annual impact report.
     
In carrying out these duties, the post-holder must:
  • Make themselves aware of the Union’s constitution and current policies;
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Union’s constitution and policies, together with all relevant legislation are upheld in all the Union’s activities;
  • Comply with all elements of the Union’s financial regulations
