Welcome to the Headington Neighbourhood Policing Team’s webpage. This site has tips on how you can prevent yourself becoming a victim of crime during your time here in Oxford and informaiton about your local policing team.

We hope to get to know many of you when we patrol Headington and we always encourage people to come and talk with us. We asked the community of Headington what they wanted us to tackle in their neighbourhood and they told us that burglary, littering and anti-social behaviour was something they thought affected their quality of life. We are constantly tackling these incidents as well as any other crimes that take place in our neighbourhood.

We produce a monthly update on the work the team is doing. This will be published on this site or if you would like it emailed to you then we can add you to our distribution list. Please email us at headingtonnorth@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk with your details.

Oxford is a safe place to live but by following our tips and advice you can make sure you never experience crime in the city.

Keep yourself safe on a night out by following our safer drinking tips:

  • Make sure that you have had something to eat before a night out – never drink alcohol on an empty stomach.
  • Drink water before you go out so that you don’t start the evening feeling thirsty.
  • Before you go out, decide how much you are going to drink and stick to your limit. Know your limits.
  • Avoid ‘rounds’ – they can encourage you to drink more than you want to.
  • Drink water or a soft drink during your night – this keeps you hydrated.
  • Have something to eat during the evening – this helps to slow down alcohol absorption.
  • Don’t leave your drink somewhere – this makes it easy for your drink to be spiked.
  • Always refuse a drink offered to you by a stranger.
  • Drink out of bottles and only bottles that are opened in your sight. This will prevent someone 'spiking' (putting a drug in) your drink.
  • Always keep your drink with you.
