Being a Student Rep is an important role. You will have the responsibility of representing the views and concerns of your fellow students to the staff within your School and the Students’ Union. You will be expected to attend a Students’ Union training session on Saturday 24th October, any Student Rep events, two Field/Programme meetings per semester and your School’s Student Forum (once or twice a semester). ![]() Nominations for the academic year 2010/11 are now open, click here to download the regisration form. If you have any questions about the role, then please contact the Reps Team in the Students’ Union by emailing obsu.representation@brookes.ac.uk or drop by the office in the Students’ Union building. ![]() Purpose: As a School Rep you will use your experience within your school to feed the issues affecting students up to the University. You will also be the School’s representative at Student Council.
Role: You will be the main link in your School between students, staff members and the Students’ Union. You will be expected to raise awareness of representational activities amongst the wider student body, and particularly within your school. Experience: No experience is needed. All current student reps who will be a student at Oxford Brookes in 2010/11 are eligible to stand for the position. You can only stand for the position in the school you study in and only student reps in that School can vote. Rewards: As a School Rep you will gain experience of organising, chairing and participating in meetings and develop public speaking skills. You will also gain knowledge of the workings of your School, the University, the Students’ Union and higher education in general. To Apply: To nominate yourself or for more information please email obsu.representation@brookes.ac.uk stating your name and student number along with a short statement (max 200 words) detailing why you feel you would be the best person for this role. Nominations must be received by 12 noon on Friday 19th February. To Vote: You will all be asked to vote for your School Rep online from 12 noon Monday 1st March until 5pm Thursday 4th March. You will receive an email from the Students’ Union on Monday 1st March with a link to the online vote along with clear voting instructions. Results will be announced at the Students’ Union Results Party in Morals on Friday 5th March. ![]() The term of office for Student Reps is one academic year. During March 2010 we will be asking current reps if they would like to stand again for the following year.
